Innagural Speech from Chairman on
38th Annual General Meeting

Respected Chief guest, special guest, honorable guest from different Co-operative credit Union, ex-member of the advisory panel, my fellow members and all the honorable member of the Cooperative, it is my pleasure to welcome all of you the 38th Annual General Meeting.

At first I express my profound gratitude to almighty God letting me arrange and be present at this meeting. I also deeply acknowledge the contributions and services of those ex-members who had been with this Co-operative credit Union from its inception. Especially, I remember Sir Knight Vincent Rodriques whose contribution to this credit union never be over emphasized. I wish him healthy and long life. I also express my gratitude to late Fr. Young (Let be peace on his soul)

In our last annual meeting we fixed up the date and time of this meeting still we apologize that might have been caused to you. The success of this meeting entirely depends on your active participation and co-operation.

I am requesting for your co-operation.

Our Managing committee takes your consent for all those works that we done through put the year. Today is your day and also expects that you should be able to give answers and explanation to all your queries. But as the limited time, we want your kind attention, not to waste time on issued which are completely irrelevant. Once again I welcome your thoughtful ideas and advise that you may have for the well being of this credit union.

DETAILS INRORMATION AS BELOWS:-

Number of Members:

Up to 30th June 99 there was the member of our cooperative Nos. 3685. There are 160 Nos. Member died and 24 Nos. member withdrawal their membership, so that in the 30th June 2000 became the total members numbers 3821, out of 1807 female and 2014 male.

Savings Account:
In the year the 295 members open new account and 14-account holder closed their account, so that becomes total member 4812, up to 30th June 2000. Savings accounts are running to motivate the members, as they become economical. So that, the cooperative discourage to withdrawal their money only for emergency period they can withdraw.

Let us pray today to Lord for our late members for their soul and showing the sympathy for their family. From last

Managing Committee Meeting:
1999-2000 FY there were the 11 nos. Monthly Meeting, 2 suspended meeting, 4 Special meeting in total 17 nos. were being conducted which were included Managing Committee, Credit Committee and Supervision and Internal Audit committee.

Building Fund
For the own building of the cooperative we started the fund from 1991-1992 FY. Every year we transfer a part of amount from net profit for building fund. In the dated of 30/05/2000 the amount was in this fund Taka 704770.00.The present office is very smaller than needs. Thats why the managing committee realize to constructed a new own building very soon. The committee has taken a fruitful decision for that.

MAS Fund:
The deposit was in the date of 30/06/2000, Taka 61,057.00. Five members nominee had received the benefit from this fund of Taka 34,627.00 in this year as they had died. The managing committee has decided to increase the benefits.

Project Development Fund:
We have disbursed Taka 37,336.00 for Students and health services. By this fund, we had also started a hostel for members family students who are studied in Dhaka town. The deposit in this fund was Taka 3,28,426.00 as on 30/06/2000.

Welfare fund
Cooperative provides financial assistance to poor members family students from this -fund. We transfer some amount from net profit for every year. There are 8 student had received in total Taka 12500.00 from this fund by this FY.

Defaulter Loans Issue:
After serving the defaulter lists in the last AGM from observing and Internal Audit committee, there is increased awareness to the default members. We are trying to consider the process easier that they could more regulars.

Investment to land sector
In the mean time, we had invested to the land sector worth Taka 30,00,000 .00. Basically, we had purchased the land from those defaulter members who were failed to return the loan. This purchased land could be return to the land owners within three years. If they fail, the cooperative could recovery the amount by selling the lands.

Education Seminar
To increase the awareness about the credit union, managing committee arranged education seminar in the different villages. Cooperative urges cooperation from the members for this reason. As the part it, by arranging the program it formed some Defaulter Loan Refund committee in the different villages. We had arranged the program in Koran, Luduria, Bagdi and in other villages.
